How to plant Catnip if you want it to survive the Cats

Since cats are goofy for catnip and there are lots o' cats in my neighborhood, I plant it for them . . . in a cage.  If the cage wasn't there the catnip is uprooted the moment it is discovered.

The anchored birdcage isn't fully kitty proof . . . this is a replacement plant for the last one they uprooted after they managed to topple the cage.

Guarding the Catnip
The catnip will grow up through the cage giving the kitties something to chew on while preserving the plant.

Best Year yet for the Bergenia, Yeah

This is the best year yet for the Bergenia . . . the last 7 years I have admired the one bloom. But this year, this year!! it's a veritable Bergenia  cornucopia.

In the same planting bed is a low growing Euphorbia polychroma (cushion spurge) with showy chartreuse-y flowers . . . makes my heart sing.
